Katelan “Kat” Bowden

Katelan “Kat” Bowden is a coloratura soprano from Davis, California. A graduate of UC Davis, Bowden has been a member of the northern Californian music scene for almost three decades,

 spanning genres and styles from opera roles to choral settings, lieder to baroque, musical theater to folk rock, and everything in between. Bowden has appeared most notably in roles such as Adele in Strauss’ Die Fledermaus, Susanna in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, Queen of the Night (cover), Papagena, and First Lady in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Poppea in Monteverdi’s L’incoronozione di Poppea, and Cinderella in Sondheim’s Into the Woods, among others. She has sung at such prestigious venues as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center and with companies such as Opera San Luis Obispo, the New York Lyric Opera, Opera San Josè, and Phènix Opera. Bowden has also been featured as the soprano soloist for works such as Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Vesperae Solennus de Dominica and Mass in C Major, Haydn’s Missa in Angustiis, Faure’s Requiem, and Vivaldi’s Gloria and Magnificat, among others. Currently in her tenth season with the San Francisco Symphony Chorus, Bowden has sung with groups such as Capella SF, Marin Baroque Ensemble, Apollo Arts, Sacramento Opera Chorus, Camerata Chorus, and Contra Costa Children’s Chorus. In addition to this stellar performance career, Kat teaches music and voice to children of all ages. She currently serves as the Assistance Music Director at Clayton Valley Charter High School.
