Living Our Faith through Action
Our Social Justice Ministry is dedicated to living out faith in bold, tangible ways—working for positive change locally and globally. Grounded in Christ’s call to “feed the hungry and clothe the naked,” we are committed to nonviolence, peacemaking, and challenging systems of injustice.
Our Work & Impact
- FPCPA was a leader in our denomination’s move toward full inclusion of LGBTQ people in the life and leadership of the church, as well as state and national efforts toward marriage equality. We remain strong advocates of justice for LGBTQ people by participating in Silicon Valley Pride as an affirming faith community. In 2024-25 we hosted two Drag Story Hours as a way to celebrate the beauty and diversity of all people and gender expressions.
- Our church has a long history of supporting those who are seeking protection from the enforcement of unjust laws. We have provided that protection multiple times on our church grounds.
- For many years we have hosted two shelters for a month each year. Heart and Home Collaborative offers cold-weather shelter and meals for unhoused women. Hotel de Zink offers shelter and meals for unhoused men and women throughout the year.
- For many years we have annual packaged 10,000 meals through Rise Against Hunger
- We support voter outreach efforts.
- We have a long history of supporting environmental justice and continue to make improvements to our church facilities to decrease our carbon footprint.
Partners in Justice
We have partnerships with organizations such as the Day Worker Center of Mountain View, Transgender Law Center, Youth Community Service, Ecumenical Hunger Program, Nuestra Casa, and other groups committed to sanctuary, solidarity, and human dignity.
Ways to Participate
